Silvervine is Better Than Catnip

Everyone knows how much cats love catnip. In fact, many cat owners use nip as a nice treat for their feline cats. However, since we here at Dezi & Roo don't do anything halfway, we've decided to take it up a notch by offering cats a product called Cloud Nine silver vine. It is a powerful cat attractant similar to catnip, but is barely known in the USA and very hard to find. It's made from a plant that is native to the mountainous regions of eastern Asia and is widely used in Japan and China as a cat stimulant. When exposed, cats enter a euphoric state that mimics catnip. However, silver vine powder is more potent than catnip due to the presence of two cat attractants, as opposed to catnip’s one.

There are many good reasons to make the switch from nip to vine. First, the silver vine is natural, non-toxic, and can benefit your cat’s overall health and well-being. It provides:

  • Fun
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Sharpens hunting skills
  • It may even provide medicinal benefits.
Beyond this, a recent study from the University of Illinois found that 3 out of 4 cats showed a preference for silver vine over catnip both in terms of initial attraction to an object containing the substance and time spent interacting with it. The American Journal of Animal and Veterinary Sciences published an abstract that came to the conclusion: "Behavioral research on silver vine as an aid to enrichment devices for felines is an unexplored area. Silver vine has much potential for use with enrichment devices and is very easy to use."  An Olfactory Enrichment Study at the Ashland Cat Shelter by Alicia Myatt found that cats exposed to silver vine played more – which led to more exercise and happier, more enriched lives.

Why Our Cloud Nne is so Fine:

Until recently, the only silver vine sold in the USA came directly processed from China. Because of safety concerns, many owners steered clear of purchasing it for their pets. Luckily for these owners, Dezi & Roo is proud to offer Cloud Nine, processed in the USA to ensure product quality for your pet. Small pinches of the powder placed on favorite toys or scratch posts will delight most cats for 5 - 30 minutes. Typical behaviors may include rolling, chin and cheek rubbing, meowing, drooling and licking. Some cats will become very active and frolic around behaving like kittens, where others may relax into silly positions as if in a dream-like state.

    Better Than Catnip!

While many cats do not respond to catnip, an overwhelming majority of cats find Cloud Nine to be pleasurable and enjoyable.  It really is better than catnip. Finding ways to keep indoor cats stimulated and enriched can be a never-ending challenge and fortunately Cloud Nine can help. Adding some to your cat's arsenal of toys while rotating them frequently will keep your cat active, happy and healthy. We encourage you to let your cat try some and let us know how much they enjoyed it.

Can I grow it as a plant in my home? Is this what I have been reading about? I have also seen catmint. If it is only a powder where do I buy it and how do I administer? Thank you. Mine also love the Pentas plant. Very pretty plant and very safe. Mine are all indoors only so I like to keep them happy and active.

My 6 month old kittens got a tiny pinch on their mouse toys and went absolutely ballistic. They ran, played and wrestled til they passed out. They love, love , love it. ❤️ Am rationing it out so they don’t go into overload. They do want to eat even the small amount we give so I hope it is not bad for them.
